Chinese New Year is just around the corner. Every Chinese Family is excited, preparing for the big gathering during reunion dinner. Even the non-Chinese will take this opportunity to go back to their hometown to spend time with the family. This is the time when every member of the family will spend time together catching up on one another, wishing good luck, good fortune to one another for the new year, giving out Hong Bao (red packet) to the children. Every family will decorate their houses for this occasion in red. Red represents color of luck for the Chinese. They will paste the auspicious Chinese word Fu 福 on the door – which means Happiness but little did they know the real meaning behind the Word Fu below:
God + One family + Field/Garden = Happiness
According to the Chinese bible Scholars, the first 3 dynasties of China (Hsia, Shang, Chou), the Chinese people worship God of heaven, the creator God and animal sacrifice was offered to Him, before Buddhism came to China. The Chinese bible scholars believes the Chinese people knows the history of the bible which influence the writing of the Chinese characters just like the word FU.
The word Fu consists of 3 root words namely God, One Family and a garden. This refers to the story of Adam & Eve. In the beginning, God placed Adam & Eve in a beautiful garden of Eden. Then, God blesses them and they enjoyed close fellowship with God. This leads to true happiness. Wow isn’t that amazing?
The Blessing of FU:
1. Good Luck
FU brings good luck. The Chinese people like to use the word Lucky. The Chinese translate the word lucky from the word FUQI (福气) or HOKKI in familiar term. Again, lucky is derived from the root word FU. Many people across culture in Asia may have heard frequently of the word HOKKI. Lucky is the impact of FU. Christian prefer to call it the favour of God. Well, whichever it is, we believe as the result of being in close fellowship with God, someone could become a lucky person because God’s favour is upon him and God blesses him. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow him all the days of his life (Psalm 23:6).
2. Good Health
FU brings good health. The word of God says, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isa 40:31). He who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s (Psalm 103:5). Intimate Fellowship with the lord in his presence will bring good health, divine healing, that benefit our body. The Church vision for this year is the year of restoration and abundance. Believe by faith that the lord will restore your health and renew your strength like an eagle even add to the numbers of your life.
3. Prosperity
FU brings prosperity. Interestingly, the word sorrow/suffering in Chinese character is as below.
古 + ++ = 苦
Ancient + weeds/thistles = sorrow
If you recall, this weeds points again to the story of Adam & Eve. Adam listened to his wife and have eaten from the fruit which God had forbidden them to eat, thus the earth is cursed on his account. In toil he shall eat of it all the days of his life. Thorns and thistles it shall bring forth (Gen 3:17-19). Nevertheless, the good news is Jesus have died for us on the cross to bear our transgression. He wore the crown of thorns on His head in order to break the curse of the earth so we may prosper Hallelujah! For I know the plans I have for you, “ declares the Lord, “ plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jer 29:11). Have faith for great prosperity in your study, career, business and ministry this year.
4. Progress
FU brings progress. The Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you only will be above, and you will not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God, which I charge you today, to observe them carefully (Deut 28:13). Progress and promotion is awaiting for those who heed His commandments, it’s the promise of God, That only happen when we have close communion with Him. We will be going to the next level with Him. We will not stay status quo this year. We will walk with the higher level of anointing, experience greater level of glory with Him. Doing greater work with God for his great purpose in His kingdom for we are called kings and priests for His kingdom.
Conclusion
Would you like to bring all these blessings with you this Chinese new year? Then, you’ve got to have FU first in your life. The word of God say, Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and everything shall be added unto you. We wish you good luck, good health, prosperity and progress this Chinese new year, Hallelujah!!!
